Weekly Update

April 15, 2018

Dear Ram families,
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Spring Break and are ready for the final stretch. I am always amazed by how quickly the school year comes to a close after Spring Break.
CJSF meets on Tuesday at 3:15pm in Room 713. On Wednesday, 3rd quarter report cards will be distributed to students during RAM. Our 8th grade only assembly also takes place on Wednesday in the MPR during 3rd block. The assembly, hosted by former Twin Peaks Ram, Aaron Rubin and his parents, is a moving experience designed to educate students about the dangers of abusing prescription drugs and a reminder of how one poor decision can change multiple lives forever. We end our week with the last SWITCH meeting of the season on Friday during both RAMS.
To ensure the safety of our campus, please note that all gates will remain locked and secure during our school day. We have had several students climbing over the gates in the morning and the afternoon. For safety reasons we are a closed campus and students must remain outside until the gates are opened by school staff.
Does your student need some extra help with math? Beginning next Monday, April 23rd, one of our former students, who is now a junior at Poway High and taking AP Calculus, is offering free tutoring in the library from 3:15-4pm. Students, don’t miss this opportunity to get some extra help and finish the year strong.
Looking ahead to next school year, the Twin Peaks choirs will need one or two piano accompanists. If you are interested, please email Ruth Wong at rctwong@gmail.com.
I’ll close with some exciting news regarding one of our very own Twin Peaks and Poway High graduates, Jackie Foster. She has been breaking national records as a top singer on the TV show, The Voice! Jackie is not only talented, she is also an exceptional role model for our youth, so we are asking you to join us as we support her in this journey!
The instructions are simple and all you need is a Twitter account. Please follow @itsJackieFoster and NBCtheVoice. Then, tomorrow night between 5 and 7pm vote for Jackie on Twitter’s NBCtheVoice. We need amazing leaders like Jackie influencing our students and we greatly appreciate your support!
That’s it for now. I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow and remember, it’s a 5/1/3 day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Burke
